Awesome Week of NYLT Mataguay Sunday, Jun 26 2011

Last Week i went to NYLT which stands for National Youth Leadership Training. We had a lot of fun learning about leadership skills and camping. The best parts of the trip are secret so by Scout Honor i am not aloud to tell you. But the worst part about the trip were the flies. The flies are an endangered species that bite.Anyways i had a lot of fun and i am hopping they choose me to be a Staff for next year!

Fish Creek Wednesday, Jun 15 2011

Last weekend i went to a training backpacking trip of Fish creek in preparation for a 50 miler trip. It was a good 2.5 miles to our campsite, where we set up our camp and made our beds for the night. The next morning we woke up early for a 14 mile hike to the base of MT. San Gorgonio. When our hike was over i made some good Mountain House freeze dried food and went to sleep. The next morning we woke up at 5:30 to begin our decent down the hill. It took us 50 minutes to get down the hill, because we sprinted down it.

Next week i will be going to San Diego to go to a NYLT leadership Camp, To learn some leadership Skills.

Big Week of Winners Tuesday, Apr 26 2011

On Saturday 16 April 2011 the rhinos took home the coffee pot for wining Pop Nye! While there we climb a 13 foot wall, shot rifles, threw tomahawks and shot targets with bows and arrows. At the end of the award Ceremony i got elected by my troop for order of the arrow! Order of the Arrow is like the honor society for the boy scouts. The Wednesday later after Pop Nye i earned my Life Scout that is only one more away from EAGLE!!!

The goal is on to find a better plan to winning next years chili cook off.

Bogart Park Troop 11 Tuesday, Mar 29 2011

Last Weekend our troop went to Bogart park to prepare for Pop Nye.

When we got there our Senior Patrol Leader told us to not set up our tents, because of expecting rain. As soon as the adults set up there sites of the events the senior patrol leader told us to start. The first event our patrol did was fire building because it was very cold. We built a fire in under 15 minutes which is horrible. So after we did the other events we went back to fire building to get a better time. After some tips from our former scoutmaster Mr. Welsh we made a fire in under 10 minutes.

After our patrol was done i decided to do it by myself for practice for Super Scout. Super scout is A competition within Pop Nye for scouts first class and up to use boy scout abilities efficiently. I finished my fire in 23 minutes. I know i will do better when Pop Nye comes.

Chili Cookoff Win Thursday, Mar 10 2011

On Saturday March 5 the Rhinos took home the fourth Golden Spoon in a role.
I was the head chef in my patrol and used a brilliant recipe from my favorite T.V. chef Bobby flay.
It was a black bean Chili with top Sirloin and a avocado relish.
Once we started the competition all the others patrols knew they were done. In our patrol we focus on one award and one award only and that is to win the the golden spoon.

I am now part of the new Troop 11 venturing patrol i will post soon about new adventures in Venturing.

Feista Island Troop 11 Wednesday, Oct 20 2010

Last weekend I went on my first trip to Fiesta Island.

At Fiesta Island we were ridding our bikes and exploring San Diego.A lot of us had a lot of fun, but one funny story i heard at he end of trip made me laugh so much i had to tell you.

One the anteaters(youngest patrol in the troop) was always in the back of the bike ride trip I later found out that his brakes were broken and didn’t tell anyone. Someone asked him what did you do when you had to stop he said put my feet down and pray.

New Star Scout for Troop 11 Redlands! Tuesday, Sep 7 2010

On August 25 2010 I became a Star Scout ! When I was going through my Board of review they asked me leadership questions like what would you do if a Scout didn’t listen to you orĀ  Would you want to earn a merit badge or just have the patch. I wont answer these questions now because i don’t want any scouts taking my answers, but i did a Great job and earned my Star rank . I just have to wait until October to get my patch.
